I have tried to establish the general feeling of my website on my homepage in several ways. First of all, I set up my header to name my site and give the breifest expalination of it's purpose. I also tried to breifly describe the mission of my site in the body. Feel free to take a look at the homepage yourself.
In my body copy I also tried to preveiw some of the features my site has to offer its users. For example, When overveiwing the research section I made a specail effort to mention the links provided there, since I think those links will be a major selling point of my site. I have bookmarked portfolios that have good link pages and I think other designers are interested in that sort of thing too. Feel free to take a look at the homepage yourself.
My homepage body copy dos a lot to guide users toward the next important page in my site by pointing out that each page grows on the previous one, all being part of a larger process. I also used bolded text to make this message easier to capture without much more than a glance. Feel free to take a look at the homepage yourself.
I worked hard to develope a short tagline that would convey the purpose of my site at a glance. As you can see from the header on this page I ended up with, "advise for designers." It's quick and simple, and I think it will grab the attention of my target audience. I also worked to improve my welcome blurb. In the beginning it was long and said a lot that didn't need to be communicated. I cut it up, drained out everything that wasn't important, and I feel that the text I have left conveys my mission and is interesting as well. Feel free to take a look at the homepage yourself.
